  When I first opened the little door and saw the title of this tea I said out loud to my kitchen "what the hell is White Ambrosia?"   As much as I love Earl Grey, Lady Grey, Russian Caravan and other like-named blends, new blends that have names that tell me NOTHING about what to expect from the flavour have a tendency to annoy me - especially in the morning before I've had my first cup of tea!  I acknowledge that this is a silly first world problem with more than a touch of hypocrisy and no basis of logic. So then, after reading the description on the bottom of the box.... "The flavors of rich vanilla and coconut complement delicate white tea leaves" I was... perplexed?  Slightly worried?  I'm not sure how best to describe the emotion - but it wasn't excited or overly hopeful for the blend.   White tea is such a delicate flavor that I was worried that the vanilla might overpower the tea altogether if the tea blender put too much in.  As for...

 It's been a few days, but I finally had a morning where I had time to enjoy a cup of tea.  Only 7 days behind on getting to this one - oh well! White Ginger Pear.... actually sounds intriguing. Pear usually hits my palate with a nice level of natural sweetness, and I live how ginger spices up a tea, but I'm worried about the white tea.  Of all the varietals, I'm least familiar with white tea.  Mum says it's her favorite, but I've yet to drink a white tea blend that grabs me enough to want to explore it more.  All the white tea blends I've tried in the past have all hit my palate with an odd sweetness that almost reminds me of the aftertastes I get from splenda or stevia - but on the mid note instead of the aftertaste.  So, we'll see if the ginger spice manages to cut through the sweetness from both the white tea and the pear.  I was gifted with a beautiful hand curated collection of teas from The Republic of Tea and this is the first flavor I'm trying from the collection. First off, before we even get to the tea itself, I have to comment on the packaging.  The feel of the super slick wrapper is tactilely satisfying to a surprising degree.  I seriously stood there while the water boiled after I'd taken the tea bag out and just rubbed the two sides of the wrapper together - only my kettle beeping brought me out of it.  It was lovely. So, the package says to only steep the tea for 30-60 seconds.  I tried the tea after 60 seconds and while the fragrance of peach had fully infused into the water, I didn't find any actual flavor.  Now, I know for a fact that my palate is far more keyed to Green, Oolong, and Black flavors - but still, it just tasted like water.        Last year I did the David's Tea advent calendar and found myself some lovely new blends from a company I wasn't very familiar with.  I'd had some of their teas before and really enjoyed them, but only a few and so I loved trying blends I never would have purchased for myself.      I had so much fun with the experience last year that I decided to do it again this year and choose a different tea company to explore.  I settled on Adagio Teas because their calendar looked so cute in the add. The inside of the Adagio Teas advent calendar     Last year's David's Tea calendar design was a bunch of little drawers that pulled out to reveal pouches of loose leaf tea portioned for two.  I like this punch/perforation pocket design better.  The little drawers slipped out before their time a lot and revealed blends before their days.  This also feels a lot more like the little chocolate advent calendars that I had as a kid....

Pomegrateful  (tart & lucious superfruit) is a white tea blend that was part of the 2019 DAVIDs Tea advent calendar. This was the  first White tea of the calendar! ..... too bad I disliked it. The pomegranate is present - as is the icky tart aftertaste..... but all in all, it's the taste of water that's gone off. Seriously, a cup of pure warm water would be more enjoyable. I didn't get through the whole cup. Disclaimer though - I don't like pomegranate to begin with.... so there's that.
