Tea Review: Maple Syrup Oolong by DAVIDs Tea

This Maple Syrup Oolong blend (subtitled Sweet Buttery Pancakes) was tea #4 of the 2019 DAVIDs Tea advent calendar and was the first Oolong blend of the calendar.

Just reading "sweet buttery pancakes" on my tea package made me oh so wary.

This was another pre-sweetened tea blends and again, the company used stevia as the sweetener.... *sigh*

chunks of fruit powdery white from the massive amounts of stevia residue.

So... stevia aftertaste is still there, but thanks to the maple is far less prominent than the "Let it Snow" blend fiasco.Fine to drink straight off the steep - cream would be a disaster in this and it does NOT need any more sweetness.

Look at the size of those massive unrolled oolong leaves!!

I accidentally did a 7 min steep on this instead of the suggested 5 - but I'm thinking it was a happy accident as the extra two minutes gives me less sweet and more Oolong in the taste - and as you can see from the steeping photo, some of those Oolong leaves were HUGE and probably needed the extra time to unfurl.

Not a bad color

It does NOT taste like pancakes, but it there is maple and there is a buttery note.

Verdict: Not bad for this morning, but not a flavor I would buy for myself.
