Review: Chai Tea Latte at Craftsman Bar (Disney's Grand California Hotel)

On the lounge menu at the Grand California Hotel at Disneyland is an alcoholic drink called the "Chai Tea Latte".  It's a $14.50 drink and it is described as such:

Somrus Indian Cream Liqueur, Twinings of London® Chai Tea and Sweetened Coconut Cream

When I saw it on the menu, I was terribly excited to try an alcoholic version of one of my very favorite tea drinks of all time.  I wasn't thrilled about the heavy price tag, but it's Disney.... so I grit my teeth and forked over the cash.

Yes, it tasted as watery as it looks

Disney dining does not often disappoint me when it comes to flavors - alas, this time was one of the exceptions.  This drink is a sad watery failure.  For as much powdered spice as there is floating on top of the drink, I would expect more spice to be present in the flavor, but there isn't any.  It's just slightly boozy water that's been warmed up and then further diluted with some vaguely coconut flavored additional liquid.

Honestly, I should have known better when the write up admitted that the tea base is Twinnings.  That's only a half step above Lipton.

Verdict:  Don't waste your money.
